How to choose a scarf to style my afro hair?

Chic and casual at the same time, the scarf adapts to all circumstances and all types of frizzy hair. But like any good fashion accessory, the hardest part is choosing the one we need.  

It's not always easy to style your frizzy hair ! It must be said that it has a strong character... For the days when it's a little too rebellious, it's practical to take a scarf out of your wardrobe. But how do you choose a scarf for your frizzy hair?  

Choosing a Scarf for Frizzy Hair Based on Size  

Let's be clear, we avoid rectangular scarves (except in the case of African scarves). The rectangular shape does not allow for many hairstyles and tends to form a bundle on the head, really not great! On the other hand, square formats are much more versatile and allow you to express your creativity.  

Let's start with the classic size, 50 x 50 cm. It suits all hairstyles and is perfect for a fine and elegant look.  

The 70 x 70 cm and the 90 x 90 on their sides give more pendant and volume to a hairstyle. They go wonderfully with a slender style . Moreover, the larger the size, the more slender and voluminous the look.  

The African scarf is usually even larger and can reach up to 175 cm in length. It is mainly used to cover all the hair. Very trendy among certain artists, such as Alicia Keys or Imany, it offers a touch of refinement and allows to enhance an outfit.  

 Choosing a scarf for frizzy hair based on the material (silk, cotton satin)  

Silk is ideal because it is particularly soft and can be worn all year round. And unlike cotton, it does not absorb the moisturizers used to protect frizzy hair .  

But silk is quite fragile. That's why it may be wise to have spare scarves, especially cotton ones, in your wardrobe. Whatever happens, avoid synthetic materials!  

It is also important to take into account the atmospheric conditions. An African satin scarf can protect your hair from the harmful effects of rain and wind. Silk, on the other hand, is a real anti-pollution shield. Instead of attaching to the hair fiber, pollution molecules slide off it.
