Enhance your braids with jewelry!
You love those braids in your hair... Changing hairstyles to change your look and allure, that's the advantage that braids offer. And when you add jewelry, you multiply the possibilities even more!
The Power of Braids in Hair
We know it, Frizzy hair is fragile, dry, brittle because of its "Z" shape which prevents the natural sebum that comes from the roots from circulating easily to the ends. Result: it is rebellious and often difficult to style. We no longer know very well how to discipline it, eliminate frizz and make it stronger. The solution is braids and all the twisting techniques. Box braids , locks, havana twists, cornrows, simple vanillas, dreads ... Braiding your hair offers a double advantage: having a pretty hairstyle and protecting your hair. No more chore of brushing! With a minimum of care, you can keep your braids for about 3 weeks: the hair is then less manipulated, less attacked by treatments and hairdressing sessions, better protected against external elements.
Jewelry for her braids
All these braided hairstyles can be styled and enhanced with hair jewelry. Gold or silver threads, ribbons, pearls, spirals, rings, rings… There are all kinds, small, medium or large and as varied as each other. We sprinkle them in our hairstyles according to our desires and occasions.
– Threads : the idea is to choose a colored thread, preferably cotton, or a ribbon and insert it as you make the braid(s). You can also use a needle or a hook and pass the thread between several glued braids: this is the corset braid.
– Beads : this is one of the most traditional hairstyles in Africa that was popularized by singers like Alicia Keys or Solange Knowles. We add wooden or plastic beads of colors to the end of the braids, very trendy with fulani braids for example.
– Spirals : of different lengths and colors, spirals add creativity to your braids, your cornrows and your locks.
– Rings : dress up your hair with rings, often in gold or silver, which you place at the end of the braids or throughout each braid. Very simple to use – open the ring slightly, wrap the braid and close by pressing lightly on it – they enhance a look day or night!
Maintaining your braids with jewelry
With or without jewelry, we regularly maintain our braids to avoid weakening our hair. We wash them once a week with a few drops of purifying shampoo diluted in water: massage lightly and rinse thoroughly. We complete with a nourishing conditioner. Be careful with jewelry that could rust: we take the time to dry them delicately with a microfiber towel or a handkerchief. Twice a week, we apply a moisturizing spray so that the hair does not dry out. To preserve them, we protect our braids at night with a silk or satin scarf.
